Juris Doctor

All JD students must complete the following requirements to graduate:

  • A minimum of six semesters in residence
  • 90 academic hours with at least a 2.0 or C average (see details below)
  • Eight skills curriculum credits
  • Satisfy all finanical obligations to the Law School and the University

Any student planning to sit for the Louisiana Bar Exam may take Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure and Security Rights instead of the common law requirements. 

For those students entering Loyola from the fall of 2010 onward and who are in the bottom quarter of their class after the junior year, whether they have incompletes or not, they must enroll in LAW L767 Consolidated Legal Analysis in their senior year. Any student who is planning to sit for the Louisiana Bar Exam may take the Louisiana version of Consolidated Legal Analysis instead of the common law version.
